Fall registration for job-training courses offered through Palomar College's Regional Occupational Program will begin Monday.
All classes are tuition-free, but some could require textbooks or materials fees. Courses include air conditioning, drafting, graphic arts, upholstery, computer applications, drafting, auto-body repair and culinary arts.
The fall semester begins in late August.

Palomar students, grads get Emmys
SAN MARCOS: Eight Palomar College students and three former Palomar students received accolades at the 34th annual Pacific Southwest Emmy Awards ceremony.
The television awards ceremony was held last month in Carlsbad. The Pacific Southwest region includes San Diego, Bakersfield, Palm Springs, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Las Vegas.
Students who received Emmys were Robert Winsmann, Aleks Awad, Ellie Zimmerman, Brian Lindholm, Kevin O'Hara, Trevor Graciano, Rob Farrell and Ben Dianna. Iris Caffin, a former Palomar student now attending San Diego State University, also won.
Former students who were recognized in the professional categories were Donald Sinatra, a producer and editor for KPBS-TV, and Christopher Maue, a photojournalist for XETV-FOX6.

Reserve to offer an insect safari
POWAY: Nature lovers can spend a night this month capturing and identifying all sorts of insects that inhabit Poway's Blue Sky Ecological Reserve.
Entomologists, staff members and docents at the reserve will lead an insect safari at 8:30 p.m. July 12. No creepy-crawlies will be injured.
Entomologist Mike Klein will begin the evening with a short presentation on “Bugs and Beasties” before the group heads off into the reserve.
The evening is suitable for all ages. People should dress warmly and bring a flashlight. Reservations are required.
