SAN JOSE – A former NASA engineer will serve time in prison after admitting he used his government computer to access child pornography.
Christopher Burt Wiltsee was sentenced to five years in prison by a federal judge Wednesday after pleading guilty earlier this year to possessing child pornography.
As part of a plea agreement with federal prosecutors, Wiltsee admitted to accessing more than 600 images of child pornography on his computer while he worked at the NASA Ames Research Center in Moffet Field.
As part of his sentence, the 57-year-old Wiltsee will also be placed on supervised release when he gets out of prison, and will also have to register as a sex offender.
He was also ordered to pay a $25,000 fine.
