Knee injury knocks Weeks out of Game 3 in NLDS

ASSOCIATED PRESS

5:05 p.m. October 4, 2008

MILWAUKEE – Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks left Saturday night's NL division series game against the Phillies after the third inning with a sprained left knee.

Weeks appeared to jam his knee while batting in the second inning, when he was narrowly cut down at first after a hard-hit grounder to third. He left the field limping, but came out to play defense in the top of the third. He didn't bat in the bottom half, and was replaced by Craig Counsell when the Brewers took the field for the fourth inning.

Weeks is 0-for-4 in the series against Philadelphia, which carried a 2-0 lead into Saturday's night game. Weeks also had an error in the first game, dropping a routine throw while covering first base.
