Dave Palet, who along with Jeff Dotseth has hosted sports-talk radio shows in San Diego on and off for the past decade, was fired yesterday from his job at XTRA Sports 1360.
Palet declined to say why he was released from the job he held for the past 11 months. Dotseth and Brian Wilson, XTRA's program director, directed all questions to Bob Bolinger, vice president and general manager for Clear Channel San Diego.
Bolinger was traveling yesterday and did not return a message left on his cell phone.
Palet and Dotseth first worked together at KFMB-AM from 1998-2002. They worked at ESPN Radio 800 for about 13 months in 2004-05 and then appeared on an FM station for six months at the start of 2007. Palet also works for ESPN Radio as a correspondent and for XETV Channel 6.
Dotseth likely will work for the next week with Mike Costa, the third wheel on the “Dave and Jeff Show” since XTRA Sports 1360 debuted last fall. The station, which did not renew Lee Hamilton's contract earlier this month, already was scheduled to undergo a lineup shift at the end of the month when it begins airing Dan Patrick's syndicated show.
